§ 8.01-656. Bond may be required of petitioner.

Before granting the writ, the court may require the petitioner to give bondwith surety in a reasonable amount for the payment of such costs and chargesas may be awarded against him.

Such bond shall be made payable to the person to whom the writ is directed,with condition that the petitioner will not escape, and shall be filed withthe other proceedings on the writ, and may be sued on for the benefit of anyperson injured by the breach of its condition.
