§ 8.01-226.3. Civil immunity for officers, directors and members of certaincrime information-gathering organizations.

Any officer, director or member of a nonprofit organization which, pursuantto a written agreement with a local government or a law-enforcement agency,regularly assists law-enforcement agencies by (i) publicly solicitinginformation from anonymous informants concerning criminal activity; (ii)gathering such information from informants; (iii) offering and paying rewardsto informants for such information; and (iv) communicating such informationto law-enforcement agencies, shall not be liable for any civil damages foracts or omissions on his part directly relating to his activities on behalfof such organization but only in the absence of gross negligence or willfulmisconduct.
