Appointment of commissioner and alternate commissioner. (Effective until June 30, 2011.)

The commissioner of this state on the vehicle equipment safety commission shall be appointed by the chief of the state patrol to serve at the chief's pleasure. The chief of the state patrol may also designate an alternate commissioner to serve whenever the commissioner of this state is unable to participate on the vehicle equipment safety commission. Subject to the provisions of the compact and bylaws of the vehicle equipment safety commission, the authority and responsibilities of such alternate shall be as determined by the chief of the state patrol.
