§302A-1505  Prioritization of repairand maintenance.  (a)  Each school shall inform the department ofeducation on an annual basis of school repair and maintenance needs.  Beforeany repair and maintenance projects for the upcoming fiscal year are implemented,each individual school administration shall prioritize and approve its repairand maintenance needs, and approve the scope of the implementation plan for theindividual projects.  After schools have prioritized their repair andmaintenance projects, a statewide list shall be prepared, reviewed, andapproved by the department of education; provided that the department may makeadjustments among schools and complex areas.  Each listing shall be postedelectronically on the Internet.

(b)  Prior to informing the department aboutthe school's repair and maintenance needs, the school's principal shallconsider the recommendations made by the school community council or the localschool board, if the school is a charter school.

(c)  In prioritizing a school's repair andmaintenance needs, the department and the school's principal shall consider theavailability of donated and discounted repair and maintenance services andmaterials that will be provided by community groups, volunteers, andbusinesses.
