§302A-1506.5  Early learning facilities;identifying sites.  (a)  The department of education shall identify unusedpublic school facilities to be used for early learning programs and services. Suitable empty classrooms, as determined by the department, shall beinventoried for potential use for early learning programs and services. Priority shall be given to facilities on sites with sufficient space for threeor more classrooms to be renovated or constructed.

(b)  The department shall assist in the identificationof possible construction sites for private providers to build early learningfacilities.

(c)  The department shall submit an annualreport to the legislature and the early learning council no later than twentydays prior to the convening of each regular session on:

(1)  The number of classrooms that would be suitablefor programs and services in the early learning system established by chapter302L; and

(2)  The cost of renovating these classrooms to meetthe standards of programs and services in the early learning system. [L 2005, c151, §4; am L Sp 2008, c 14, §6]
