[§302A-413]  Driver education.  (a)  The
department may establish and administer a motor vehicle driver education and
training program to be conducted at each public high school in the State.



(b)  The department, for the purpose of this
section, shall:



(1)  Set the prerequisites and priorities for
enrollment in the course of driver education and training, which shall be open
to every resident of the State who is fifteen years of age or older and under
nineteen years of age;



(2)  Establish the requirements for and employ
necessary instructors, who are certified to have completed satisfactorily an
approved instructor's course, to conduct the course in driver education and
training;



(3)  Issue a certificate of completion to every
student upon satisfactory completion of the course in driver education and
training;



(4)  Purchase, rent, or acquire by gift, materials and
equipment necessary for the program established by this section; and



(5)  Cooperate with the chief of police in each county
in promoting traffic safety.



(c)  The department may adopt rules under
chapter 91, necessary for the purposes of this section and section 302A-414. [L
