[§302A-413] Driver education. (a) Thedepartment may establish and administer a motor vehicle driver education andtraining program to be conducted at each public high school in the State.
(b) The department, for the purpose of thissection, shall:
(1) Set the prerequisites and priorities forenrollment in the course of driver education and training, which shall be opento every resident of the State who is fifteen years of age or older and undernineteen years of age;
(2) Establish the requirements for and employnecessary instructors, who are certified to have completed satisfactorily anapproved instructor's course, to conduct the course in driver education andtraining;
(3) Issue a certificate of completion to everystudent upon satisfactory completion of the course in driver education andtraining;
(4) Purchase, rent, or acquire by gift, materials andequipment necessary for the program established by this section; and
(5) Cooperate with the chief of police in each countyin promoting traffic safety.
(c) The department may adopt rules underchapter 91, necessary for the purposes of this section and section 302A-414. [L1996, c 89, pt of §2]
