ยง286-4.1ย Medical advisory board.ย (a)ย There is established within the office of the state director oftransportation for administrative purposes a medical advisory board consistingof not fewer than five physicians licensed to practice in the State.ย Themembers of the board shall be appointed by the governor as provided in section26-34, except as otherwise provided by this section.ย The board shall consistof one psychiatrist, one neurologist, one orthopedic surgeon, oneophthalmologist or optometrist, and one specialist in cardiovascular disease.ย The members of the board shall serve without compensation but shall bereimbursed for expenses, including travel expense, actually incurred in theperformance of their duties under this chapter.
(b)ย The duties of the board shall include:
(1)ย The development of a system for medicallyevaluating persons who an examiner of drivers has reason to believe have mentalor physical conditions that might impair their driving ability; and
