§286-55  Certificates lost or mutilated. If any certificate of registration or certificate of ownership is lost,mutilated, or becomes illegible, the person to whom the same has been issuedshall immediately make application for and may obtain a duplicate thereof uponfurnishing satisfactory information to the director of finance and upon paymentof a fee, which fee shall be established by the county's legislative body.

When a certificate of ownership is lost,damaged, mutilated or stolen, the director of finance shall provide to aqualified applicant an application form for a duplicate certificate ofownership.  The names and addresses of the transferor and transferee shall bewritten in the application form and the same, together with the last issued certificateof registration, the fee for the duplicate certificate of ownership, plus thetransfer fee, shall be filed with the director of finance.
