If a defendant fails to appear or answer an information or summons served upon him, the court shall immediately report the name of the defendant and other pertinent facts to the commissioner. The commissioner shall mail a notice to the defendant at the address stated in the information notifying him that his failure to appear has resulted in the suspension or revocation of his hunting, fishing and trapping license and his privilege to take wild animals in this state. Nothing in this subchapter shall prevent the court from issuing an arrest warrant or punishing the defendant for contempt. (Added 1977, No. 229 (Adj. Sess.); amended 1981, No. 85, § 6, eff. May 7, 1981.)
