§ 753. Flood hazard areas

(a) To meet the objective of this chapter and the requirements of section 4412 of Title 24, the designation and management of flood hazard areas shall adhere to the following procedure and schedule. All municipalities, regional planning commissions, and departments and agencies of state government shall mutually cooperate to these ends and to secure flood plain insurance for municipalities and the state of Vermont. All correspondence sent to a municipality pursuant to this chapter shall be sent to the municipal clerk, the legislative body, and planning commission. Copies of this correspondence shall be sent to the regional planning commission, the agency of commerce and community development, and the state planning office.

(b) The secretary shall, as the information becomes available, provide each municipality with a designation of flood hazard areas. The designation shall include a map or maps.
