§ 6102. Independence fund

(a) There is hereby established an independence fund to be maintained by the agency of human services.

(b) The fund shall be comprised of revenues from the following sources:

(1) any private donations made by individuals or organizations to the fund for its purposes under this chapter;

(2) when authorized by the general assembly, funds appropriated directly or combined with other funds appropriated for services or programs having purposes consistent with encouraging and maintaining independent living of elderly or handicapped Vermonters in need of services;

(3) funds received from the federal government as matching funds or other funds for the purposes of this chapter;

(4) funds held, donated to or acquired by any state agency for purposes generally consistent with the purposes of this chapter may be transferred at the direction of the governor to the independence fund.

(c) All interest accrued or generated by revenue in the fund shall remain in the fund and be available for the payment of grants awarded therefrom. (Added 1981, No. 234 (Adj. Sess.), § 2; amended 1983, No. 9, § 11, eff. March 22, 1983.)
