1-201. Membership; appointment; qualifications;term; vacancies; removal.(a) There is hereby created a board of accountancy, hereinafterreferredto as the board. The board shall be composed of seven members who shall beappointed by the governor and shall be citizens of the United States andresidents of the state of Kansas. Five members of the board shall becertified public accountants who hold permits to practice as certifiedpublic accountants in this state and who are in active practice as such andtwo members shall represent the general public. Anymember of the board who isappointed to represent the general public shall be a person whose business,occupation or profession requires a reliance on and understanding offinancial statements and their use.
(b) Each member of the board shall serve for a term of three yearsand until a successor is appointed and qualified. Vacancies in the board shallbe filled byappointment of the governor for the unexpired term.
(c) The governor shall remove from the board any certified publicaccountant member who does not hold a permit to practice as a certifiedpublic accountant in this state. After a hearing conducted in accordancewith the provisions of the Kansas administrative procedure act, thegovernor may remove any member of the board for neglect of duty or other justcause.
