10-601. Registration of bonds by state treasurer; notations; coupons;transfers; negotiability.The state treasurer shall register any state bonds or bonds issued by amunicipality as defined by K.S.A. 10-101, and amendments thereto, whichthe bondholder maypresent to the state treasurer, for recordingin a book keptfor that purpose, showing the municipality issuing the same, the seriesof the bond, the date, amount, number, maturity, the purpose for which thebond was issued and the name and post-office address ofthe bondholder. On registering any bond the state treasurershall notify the municipality issuing the bond of its registration andthe bond shall be payable on its maturity by the municipality to thestate treasurer. When the state treasurer registers any bond, theregistration shall be evidenced by notation to that effect on thereverse side of the bond, after which no transfer shall be valid unless madeat the written request of the registered owner or a duly authorizedagent in writing and similarly noted on the bond. The bond may bedischarged from registration by being registered tobearer and thereupon transferability shall be restored. The bondmay again be registered or be transferred tobearer as before. Registration shall not affect the negotiabilityof any interest coupons appertaining toany bond issued prior to the effective date of this act. This section shallnot apply to any bond or bonds for which a fiscal agent other than thestate treasurer has been designated.
