12-1,120. Fingerprinting of chief of police;fingerprints forwarded toK.B.I. for background investigation; cost.(a) Each person holding office aschief of police of any city in this stateshall be fingerprinted as provided by this section.
(b) Before assuming the office of chief of police of anycity in this state, a person shall be fingerprinted as provided by thissection.
(c) Fingerprinting pursuant to this section shall be done by the lawenforcementagency of the city in the presence of the city clerk. The city clerk shallforthwith forward thefingerprints to the Kansas bureau of investigation for a search of state andnationalfingerprint files to determine whether the person qualifies for admissionto the law enforcement training centerpursuant to subsection (a)(3) of K.S.A. 74-5605 andamendments thereto. The Kansas bureau ofinvestigation shall certify any conviction record of the person, or lackthereof, found as a result of such search to thecity clerk and, if such a record is found, to the attorney general.
(d) Fingerprints taken and submitted pursuant to this section shall beon forms approved by the attorney general.
(e) The cost of a search of fingerprint files pursuant to this sectionshall be paid by the person being fingerprinted.
