12-1406.   Cities and townships may purchase land of cemetery association;notice of purchase; protest.The governing body is hereby authorized to purchase from a cemetery association,all of the unsold land belonging tothe association for aconsideration of not more than $1. If such purchase ismade, the city may assume complete control of all roadways and parkingin and around the cemetery. Prior to the transfer, the proposedtransfer of the cemetery association shall be published once each week fortwo consecutive weeks in the officialcity newspaper. If a protest signed by not less than30% of the lot owners is not filed in the office of the city clerkof the city within 30 days after the first publication of theproposed transfer, the land may be transferred.
