12-1543.   Alternative examinations authorized; validity of licenselimited; codes; standards; inspections and fees; reciprocal agreements.Within their respective jurisdictions and subject to theprovisions of K.S.A. 12-1542, any city or county may:

      (a)   Utilize examinationsother than those designated by K.S.A. 12-1541 for the examination ofmechanical heating, ventilation and air conditioning contractors and masterand journeyman heating, ventilation and air conditioning mechanicsfor licensure to practice only within the jurisdiction of such city orcounty;

      (b)   adopt and enforce such heating, ventilation and air conditioningcodes, standards andregulations as the board of county commissioners or governing body of thecity deem appropriate; and

      (c)   conduct such inspections and fix suchreasonable fees therefor as the board of county commissioners or governingbody of the city may prescribe.

      Except when authorized by reciprocalagreement between the political subdivisions involved, licenses grantedupon the basis of examinations other than those designated by K.S.A. 12-1541shall not authorizemechanical heating, ventilation and air conditioning contractors and masterand journeyman heating, ventilation and air conditioning mechanicsto practice outside of the jurisdiction ofthe city or county granting such license.
