12-1738. Lease of all or part of public building by city; terms;building invested with historical or cultural value; building no longerrequired for city purposes.(a) Any city owning or hereafter acquiring any public building may,except as otherwise specifically provided by law, lease any such buildingor any part thereof, when such is not required for city purposes, for aperiod not exceeding one (1) year at a time, upon such terms and conditionsas the governing body may deem to be in the best interest of the city.
(b) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (a) of this section,whenever the governing body of any city owning or hereafter acquiring anypublic building shall by resolution declare that any such building isinvested with unusual historical or cultural value, the nature of whichshall be described, such city may lease such building to any corporation orassociation desiring to restore and preserve such building for itshistorical or cultural value for any term of years which the governing bodymay deem to be in the best interest of the city.
(c) Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (a) of this section,whenever the governing body of any city owning, on January 1, 1975, anypublic building shall by resolution declare that any such building is nolonger required for city purposes, such city may lease the building, or anypart thereof, for any term of years upon such terms and conditions as thegoverning body, upon a two-thirds vote thereof, may deem to be in the bestinterest of the city.
