12-1784. Same; services.Any city which has established a business improvement district pursuantto this act may provide or cause to be provided such services as will restoreor promote the economic vitality of the district and the generalwelfare of the city, including (a) the beautification of the district, suchas by landscaping and plantings, fountains, shelters, benches, sculptures,signs, lighting, decorations and similar amenities, including the maintenancethereof; (b) the provision of special or additional public services, suchas sanitation, the security of persons and property and the care and maintenanceof public facilities, including sidewalks and other public areas; (c) theprovision or financial support of public transportation services and vehicleparking facilities open to the general public, including the operation andmaintenance of parking facilities which may have been established by theissuance of bonds and the levying of special assessments; (d) the developmentof plans for the general architectural design of public areas and the developmentof plans and programs for the future development of the district; (e) thedevelopment, promotion and support of community events and activities opento the general public;and (f) any other services which the city is authorized to perform and whichthe city does not also perform to the same extent on a city-wide basis.
