12-509.   Costs; deposits.The petitioner or petitioners shall be liable for all costs of theproceedings, whether the prayer of the petition be allowed or not; and uponfiling the petition with the county clerk, there shall be deposited withthe clerk twenty-five dollars to secure such costs, and the county clerkshall demand further deposits of money as in the opinion of the board ofcounty commissioners may be necessary, at subsequent times, to furthersecure the probable costs of the proceedings; and no steps shall be takenin the proceedings while the petitioner or petitioners are in default ofmaking the deposits as herein provided for.
