12-646a. Flood control works; maintenance and operation; tax levy, useof proceeds.For the purpose of maintaining and operating any flood control works ordikes heretofore or hereafter constructed with or without the assistanceof the U.S. army corps of engineers or any other agency of the federalgovernment and to pay a portion of the principal and interest on bonds issuedby such city under the authority of K.S.A. 12-1774, and amendments thereto,the governing body of any city is hereby authorized andempowered to levy annually a tax upon all the tangible taxable propertywithin said city. It shall be the duty of the governing body of any cityhaving such flood control works or dikes to keep the same in serviceablecondition and to make such repairs thereon as may be necessary from timeto time.
