13-1023. For what purposes private property may be purchased orcondemned.Private property may be purchased or condemned for streets, alleys,levees, market houses, market places, depot grounds, bridges or approachesthereto, public buildings, sewers, to acquire stone quarries or othermaterial for the improvement of the streets and alleys, or other publicimprovements, and for public parks within or without the city, as may behereafter needed or required for the use of the city.
