Article 13a.--MUNICIPAL UNIVERSITIES

      13-13a05.   Board members appointed by governing bodyof city; residencerequirements; terms of office.(a) Whenever the board of regents of amunicipaluniversity levies a countywide retailers' sales tax pursuant toK.S.A. 13-13a38, theterm of the member appointed from the city-at-large shall lapse. The terms ofoffice of the members from the 18th, 19th and 20th state senatorial districtsappointed by the mayor of the city prior to the levying of a countywideretailer's sales tax shall expire on the dates of their existing termsrespectively. Each successor member shallbe appointed and hold office for a termof fouryears and until a successor has been appointed and qualified.

      (b)   Whenever the board of regents of a municipal university leviesa countywide retailers' sales tax pursuant to the provisions of this act theboard of county commissioners of the county in which the university is locatedshall appoint a member of the board of regents who is a resident of the countybut not of the city. The term of office of the appointee shallbe for a term of four years and until a successor hasbeen appointed and qualified. Each successor member shall be appointed andhold office for a term of four years and until a successor has been appointedand qualified.
