Article 10a.--EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEMS

      14-10a06.   Membership fee and contributions by officers and members ofdepartment; refunds; limitations.Every new officer and member of such police and firedepartmentsshallbe required to pay to the treasurer of such board amembership feeof $5. There shall be deducted from the salary ofeveryofficer andmember of each department an amountequal to 7% of such officer's or member's monthly salary,which shall be paid into the respective pension funds. Any officer or member,whose services, for any reason whatsoever, areterminated withthedepartment shall be entitled, upon demand, to be paid within30 daysafter such demand, the total amount of the deduction fromsuchofficer's or member's salarypaid into such fund, less50% thereof. In the event such officer or member should renew suchofficer's ormember's services with suchdepartment the officer or member shall, as a condition of employment andsubject to the provisions of subsection (h) of K.S.A. 14-10a02 and amendmentsthereto,return to such fund the amount withdrawn.
