19-2760.   Same; directors; election, qualifications,term.(a) An election shall be held in each improvement district on theTuesday followingthe first Monday in November of 1978 and of each even-numbered year thereafterfor the purpose of electing three directors of such district, exceptthat the first election following the establishment of suchdistrictshall be held at a time fixed by the board of county commissioners of thecounty in which the district is located.

      (b)   The directors of an improvementdistrict shall serve for terms of two years, except that directorselectedprior to the Tuesday following the first Monday in November, 1978, anddirectorselected at the first election following the establishment of the districtshall serve until their successors are elected.

      (c) (1)   From and after July 1, 2006, each director shall:

      (A)   Own land within the improvement district; or

      (B)   reside in the improvement district.

      (2)   Notwithstanding the provisions of paragraph (1), each director electedon or before June 30, 2006, shall be allowed to serve the remainder of suchdirector's current term of office.
