Chapter 19.--COUNTIES AND COUNTY OFFICERS
Article 27.--PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS; IMPROVEMENT AND SERVICE DISTRICTS

      19-2762.   Same; filing by candidates for director; conduct of election.Elections to choose directors shall be conducted, the returns madeand the results ascertained in the manner provided by law for generalcounty elections. Any person desiring to be a candidate for director inany election, shall file with the county election officer of the countywherein the district is located, by 12:00 o'clock noon of the Tuesday precedingby eight (8) weeks the date set forholding such election, his or her name and shall file a statement that heor she desires it to be placed on the ballot as a candidate in such election. Thecounty election officer in preparing the ballots shall place thenames thereon in alphabetical order. Except as otherwise provided by thissection, such election shall be conducted and the returns thereof canvassed and countedin accordance with the general election laws of the state. The county electionofficer shall cause to beascertained the names of all taxpayers within the district who are alsoqualified electors, and shall furnish lists thereof to the judges of suchelection. Notice of the time and place of holding each election, signed bythe county election officer shall be given in some newspaper published inthe county at least five (5) days before holding the election. At allelections held under the provisions of this act, only persons who aretaxpayers and residents of the district, and who are qualified electorsunder the constitution, shall be entitled to vote.
