19-2786a. Same; consolidation of adjoining districts; petition; jointmeeting.Whenever a petition signed by not less than twenty-five percent (25%) ofthe legally qualified electors of either of two of adjacent improvementdistricts is presented to the board of county commissioners of the countyin which such improvement districts are located, praying that an electionbe called, at which shall be submitted the question of consolidation ofsuch two (2) improvement districts, it shall be the duty of the board ofcounty commissioners to notify the boards of directors of each of suchimprovement districts of the fact of such petition, and request that suchtwo boards of directors meet jointly with the board of county commissionersto determine the feasibility of such consolidation, the terms of suchconsolidation, the handling of outstanding bonded indebtedness, the name ofthe consolidated improvement district and the effective date of suchproposed consolidation.
