Chapter 19.--COUNTIES AND COUNTY OFFICERS
Article 27.--PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS; IMPROVEMENT AND SERVICE DISTRICTS

      19-27,134.   Same; general obligation bonds; publication of notice;petition; election.The board of county commissioners which has created a storm drainagedistrict under the provisions of this act is hereby authorized to issuegeneral obligation bonds of the county to pay the cost of constructing suchstorm drainage system within such districts: Provided, That before anybonds shall be issued for such purposes, the county commissioners shallcause to be published once each week for three (3) consecutive weeks in theofficial county newspaper a notice of its intention to cause theimprovement to be made and to issue bonds of the county to pay the coststhereof describing the improvement proposed to be made and the amount ofbonds proposed to be issued. Such bonds may be issued and the improvementmade unless a petition requesting an election upon the issuance of suchbonds, signed by electors, equal in number to not less than ten percent(10%) of the electors in the district who voted for secretary of state atthe last preceding general election as certified by the electioncommissioner is filed in the office of the county clerk within thirty (30)days following the last publication of such resolution. In the event asufficient petition is filed within the time provided, no such bonds shallbe issued until the county commissioners shall have submitted the questionto and received the approval of a majority of the electors voting on theproposition at an election called and held for such purpose. The board ofcounty commissioners shall annually levy a tax upon all of the propertywithin such district in an amount necessary to meet the interest andprincipal payments of the bonds issued hereunder.

      Any election called and held and any bonds issued under the provisionsof this section shall be in the manner provided by the general bond law.
