Chapter 19.--COUNTIES AND COUNTY OFFICERS
Article 28.--PARKS, MUSEUMS, LAKES AND RECREATIONAL GROUNDS

      19-2837.   Bonds; petitions; election; limitation on bonds.Upon the presentation to the board of county commissioners of the maps,plans and specifications, and information called for in the precedingsection, and petitions

      (a)   specifying that bonds may be issued in a definite amount andwhich amount shall, in no event, be in excess of 20% more than theestimated cost to the county for the items which the county undertakesto be responsible for as disclosed by the plans, specifications, andinformation on file as required in the preceding section; and

      (b)   which petitions shall be signed by at least 25% of the qualifiedelectors of such county as shown by the vote cast for secretary of stateat the last general election in such county; and

      (c)   following the name of each signer on such petition shall beinserted his or her precinct and residence address; and

      (d)   on each petition an elector of the county shall certify, underoath, that he believes each signer on such petition is a qualifiedelector of the precinct designated after the name of such elector; thenthe county commissioners shall call a special election within 30 daysafter the filing of such petition with the county clerk of such countyto submit to the voters of such county the question of issuing suchbonds: Provided, That such question may be submitted at a primaryor general election if either will be held within 100 days after suchfiling of such petitions. Notice of such election shall be given in twoweekly issues in at least one newspaper of general circulation in suchcounty, specifying the maximum amount of bonds to be issued for suchlake and park project, and at such election the county commissionersshall submit to the electors the following proposition:

      "Shall ______________ county issue bonds in the sum not exceeding$__________ for the construction and/or aid in construction of such lakeand park project as provided by law."

      If a majority of the votes cast are in favor of the questionsubmitted, the county commissioners may issue bonds in an amount notexceeding the sum stated in the question submitted. But in no eventshall the bonds issued under the provisions of this act exceed the sumof sixty thousand dollars ($60,000).
