19-2854. Appointment of members; officers; quorum; terms; removal for
cause; expenses; meeting and office space.
The chairperson of the board of county commissioners, by and with the
consent and approval of the board of county commissioners, shall appoint
five residents of such county, as members of the county board of park
commissioners provided for in
K.S.A. 19-2853, and any amendments thereto. The chairperson
shall designate one member of the county board of park commissioners as
president and one as vice-president thereof and a majority of the board
shall constitute a quorum. The chairperson shall designate one
commissioner to serve for a term of one year, two commissioners to serve
for a term of two years and two commissioners to
serve for a term of three years and thereafter the members of such county
board of park commissioners shall hold their offices for a term of three
years and until their successor or successors shall have been appointed and
qualified, and in event of death, dismissal, resignation or
disqualification of any member of such county board of park commissioners,
such member's successor shall be appointed by the board of county
commissioners to
fill the unexpired term caused by such vacancy. Any member of
the county board of park commissioners may be removed by the board of county
commissioners for the same cause justifying the removal of any appointive
officer.
Members of the county board of park commissioners shall receive
as reimbursement for their ordinary and reasonable expenses incurred
in the performance of their duties an amount not to exceed $200 per month.
All bills and
accounts of the members shall be approved, audited and paid as other claims
in the manner provided by K.S.A. 12-105b, and amendments
thereto. The board of county commissioners shall provide suitable
meeting space for the county board of park commissioners and suitable
office space for the manager and office staff.
