Article 28.--PARKS, MUSEUMS, LAKES AND RECREATIONAL GROUNDS

      19-2876c.   Same; approval of electors for increased levy required;submission of proposal.The board of commissioners of the Johnson county recreation districtshall not levy the additional one-half (1/2) mill authorized in this actby the amendment to K.S.A. 19-2876, until the same shall havebeen submitted to and approved by the qualified electors of thedistrict. The question of whether said board shall be authorized to levythe additional tax may be submitted to the qualified electors of thedistrict at a general election or at a special election for suchpurpose, to be noticed, called and held in the manner provided for thegiving of notice, calling and holding elections upon the question ofissuance of bonds under the general bond law. If a majority of the votescast and counted on such proposition at any such election are in favorthereof, the board may levy such additional tax.

      It shall be the duty of the board to determine whether suchproposition shall be submitted at a general or special election, asprovided herein, and to give notice thereof to the county electionofficer. If such proposition is submitted at a special election, thelaws relating to questions submitted at special elections, includingpayment of the expenses thereof, shall govern said election.
