19-2885.   Same; park board; qualifications; terms; appointment;vacancies; compensation.The governing board of the county park district shall consist of five(5) members who shall be qualified electors of the district and residetherein at the time of appointment and during their terms of office. Anex officio member of the board shall be a member of the board of countycommissioners selected by said board. The terms of the members of thepark board shall be for three (3) years and until their successors areappointed and qualified: Provided, That upon the creation of thedistrict the terms of the members first appointed as hereinafterprovided shall be as follows: Two (2) members shall be appointed for aterm of one (1) year, two (2) members shall be appointed for a term oftwo (2) years, and one (1) member shall be appointed for a term of three(3) years, and thereafter all appointments shall be for a term of three(3) years.

      The board of county commissioners within sixty (60) days after thecreation of the district shall appoint the first members of the boardand thereafter shall make appointments upon the termination of existingterms. Any vacancy shall be filled by appointment by the board of countycommissioners for the unexpired term. All appointments shall be madewithout regard to political affiliation. No member shall receive anycompensation for the performance of his duties as a member.
