Chapter 19.--COUNTIES AND COUNTY OFFICERS
Article 28.--PARKS, MUSEUMS, LAKES AND RECREATIONAL GROUNDS

      19-28,105.   Sports authority; definitions.As used in this act, the following words and phrases shall have themeanings respectively ascribed to them herein:

      (a)   "Urban area county" or "county" means any county designated anurban area by the legislature pursuant to section 17 of article 2 of theKansas constitution;

      (b)   "Authority" or "county sports authority" means any specialauthority created pursuant to K.S.A. 19-28,106;

      (c)   "Board" means the board of county commissioners of an urban areacounty;

      (d)   "Person" means an individual, firm, partnership, corporation,joint venture or other association of persons;

      (e)   "Hotel, motel or tourist court" means any structure, orbuilding, under one management, which contains rooms furnished for theaccommodation or lodging of guests, with or without meals being soprovided, and kept, used, maintained, advertised, or held out to thepublic as a place where sleeping accommodations are sought for pay orcompensation to transient guests or permanent guests and having morethan eight (8) bedrooms furnished for the accommodation of such guests;

      (f)   "Transient guest" means a person who occupies a room in a hotel,motel or tourist court for [*] more than thirty-one (31) days;

      (g)   "Cafe, cafeteria, lunchroom and restaurant" means any premises,or any part thereof, in which food is prepared or further processed, andthereafter either is sold at retail to the general public by a personlicensed by the state food service and lodging board or is furnished tothe members and guests of a private club licensed pursuant to K.S.A.41-2601 et seq.;

      (h)   "Food" shall mean and include all articles commonly used forfood or drink, including alcoholic liquor and cereal malt beverages, assaid terms are defined by K.S.A. 41-102 and K.S.A. 41-2701,respectively;

      (i)   "Taxpayers" means the person described in paragraphs (1) and (2)of subsection (c) of K.S.A. 19-28,111.
