19-2959. Same; intergovernmental planningagreements; approval of county commissioners.In order to promote efficiency and coordination in theoverall planning by the various governmental entities having an interest withinthegeographical territory embraced within the planning authorization grantedto the county within this act, and to encourage the elimination ofduplication of effort in planning for such areas, the board of countycommissioners may initiate joint efforts with other governmental entitiesincluding, but not limited to, cities, townships, fire districts, waterdistricts and wastewater districts and the planning commission, with theapproval of the board of county commissioners, is authorized to initiateand jointly prepare, in whole or in part, any plans or programs developedas a part of such joint or cooperative effort. Such plans or programs shallbe considered for recommendation by the planning commission and adoption bythe board of county commissioners in the same manner and with the samerequirements as specified elsewhere in this act for adoption of thecomprehensive plan.
The board of county commissioners shall approve any intergovernmentalagreement or other formal document that shall outline the extent of commoninterest, the duration of the agreement, the role of the various partiesinvolved, the desired results of such joint or cooperative effort and anyother matter deemed pertinent by the parties involved. Such agreements maybe made by the county and one or more other governmental entities as maychoose to participate.
