Chapter 19.--COUNTIES AND COUNTY OFFICERS
Article 34.--ELECTION COMMISSIONERS

      19-3419.   Counties over 130,000; appointment, term, removal;vacancies; qualifications, oath.In counties of this state having a population exceeding 130,000, thereshall be an office of commissionerof elections, which shall be administered by an election commissioner. Theelection commissionershall be appointed by the secretary of state and shall hold office for aterm of four years anduntil a successor is appointed and qualified. The secretary of statemay remove the election commissioner for official misconduct. Upon occurrenceof a vacancy in the office of county election commissioner, thesecretary of state shall appoint a successor. If the vacancy occurs beforethe expiration of a term of office, the appointmentshall be for the unexpired term. Such election commissioner shall havebeen a qualified elector and a resident of the county at least twoyears prior to appointment. Within 10 days after receiving official noticeof the appointment and before entering upon the duties of the office, theelection commissioner shall take, subscribe and cause to be filed in the office of thesecretary of state an oath of office for the faithful discharge ofofficial duties.
