Article 36.--FIRE PROTECTION

      19-3617.   Same; furnishing of fire protection services; contracts forservices; tax levy.The governing body may provide for the furnishing of fire protectionservices or may contract with any other fire district, city or township orprivate entity within the vicinity of the fire district, for thepurpose offurnishingfire protection service to the residents of such district.

      Where such fire district does enter into a contract with any otherfire district, city or township or private entity within the vicinity ofthe fire districtfor furnishing fire protection service to the residents of such district, thefire district governing board shall have the power to levy a tax not toexceed 8.5 mills upon the dollar of the assessedvaluation of all taxable, tangible property in the district, for thepurpose of carrying out the provisions of the contract. Such tax levy shall be in addition to all other tax levies authorized orlimited by law except that no other levies for fire department purposesshall be made on such property.
