Article 1.--STATE AND OTHER AGRICULTURAL SOCIETIES AND FAIRS

     
2-143.   County aid; when, amount, purposes.
(a) Except as provided by subsection (b), whenever any such city shall
levy a tax for the purpose of maintaining a
county free fair, the board of county commissioners of the county in which
such city is located shall appropriate from the general fund
of such county
an amount of money equal to that appropriated by such city as above
provided, and shall cause a warrant to be issued in favor of the treasurer
of the county free fair board, the amount so paid by such county
together with the amount raised by such city to be used for the purpose
of defraying all of the expenses and maintenance of such county free fair.

     
(b)   Whenever the governing body of any city which levies a tax pursuant
to subsection (b) of K.S.A. 2-142, and amendments thereto, for the purpose
of maintaining a county free fair, the board of county commissioners of
the county in which the city is located shall appropriate from the general
fund of the county an amount of money which shall not exceed $5,000. The
board of county commissioners shall cause a warrant to be issued in favor
of the treasurer of the county free fair board in the amount paid by the
county. This amount, together with the amount raised by the city, shall
be used for the purpose of defraying all of the expenses and maintenance
of the county free fair and to pay awards and premiums for exhibits at the fair.
