2-1316. Weed supervisors; duties; salary, how borne;annual report.(a) The board of county commissioners of each county shall, and thegoverning body of any incorporated city or any group of counties or citiesmay, employ for a stated time each year, with the approval of the secretaryof agriculture, a competent person as county, city ordistrict weed supervisor.
(b) The weed supervisor shall consult and cooperate with the state divisionof noxious weeds andwith the assistant weed control director appointed for the supervisor'sdistrict, make annual surveys of infestations (compile data on areaseradicated and under treatment), and submit an annualreport to the countycommissioners and to the state division of noxious weeds, to consult andadvise upon all matters pertaining to the best and most practical methodsfor noxious weed control and eradication and to render every possibleassistance and direction for the most effective control and eradicationwithin the supervisor's district; investigate or aid in the investigationand prosecution of any violation of this act and report violations of which thesupervisor has knowledge to the county attorney.
(c) The salary of the countyweed supervisor shall be borne as follows: TheKansas department of agricultureto pay not more than one-fourth thereof from any funds available, not lessthan three-fourths thereof to be paid out of the county noxious weed fund,prorated as may be decided at the time of such employment by the governingbody or bodies employing such supervisor.
(d) The boards of countycommissioners, governing bodies of cities and township boards, with the aidof their weed supervisors, shall make by February15th each year anannual weed eradication progress report to thesecretary of agriculturefor the preceding calendar year, on a form supplied by thesecretary, andsuch other weed reports as established by rules and regulations of thesecretary ofagriculture.
