2-2472.   Pesticide management areas; development bythe secretary.(a) The secretary of the Kansas department ofagriculture is hereby authorized and may develop pesticide management areasafter receiving notification by the administrator of the United Statesenvironmental protection agency or by the secretary of the Kansas department ofhealth and environment, that a pesticide poses a serious threat to the publichealth, safety and welfare or the natural resources of this state.

      (b)   The secretary upon the secretary's own investigation may initiatesuch proceedings whenever the secretary has reason to believe that apesticide poses a serious threat to the public health, safety and welfareor the natural resources of this state.
