20-345. Appointment of clerical and nonjudicialpersonnel fordistrict courts; qualifications;compensation; duties; approval of appointment by certain judges, when.Within staffing limits prescribed by the supreme court and appropriationstherefor, the chief judge of each judicial district shall appoint suchbailiffs,court reporters,secretaries, court services officers and otherclerical and nonjudicialpersonnel as necessary to perform the judicial and administrative functionsof the district court. Persons appointed pursuant to this section shallhave qualifications prescribed by law or rule of the supreme court.Except as otherwise provided by law, such persons shall receive compensationprescribed by the judicial personnel classification system. Such personsshall perform the duties and functions prescribedby law, designatedin the personnel classification system orassigned by the chiefjudge, subject to rule of the supreme court. Personnel whose salary is payableby counties shall receive compensation in the amounts provided in the districtcourt budget approved by the board of county commissioners. Whenever anyperson is employed or assigned to work under direct supervision ofany judge or in a division of court in which a judgepresides, the employmentor assignment of the person shall be subject to the approvalof that judge.
