20-363. Abolishment of certain district courtemployee job positions;positions assumed by county; payment by county of compensation.(a) On and after June 18, 1979, job positions for districtcourt employees whose principal duties involved service of process for thedistrict court of the county immediately prior to such date shall be abolished.Except as provided in subsection (b), on and after such date the officeof sheriff in such county shall assume the duties of service of processfor the district court of the county and there is hereby created job positionsin such sheriff's office in a number equal to the number of job positionsabolished in the district court of such county by this section.
(b) On and after June 18, 1979, in Wyandotte county the county shall assumethe duties of service of process for the district court of such county andthere is hereby created job positions in such county, under the supervisionof the board of county commissioners, in a number equal to the number ofjob positions abolished in the district court of such county by this section.
(c) In appointing persons to fill the job positions created by this section,due consideration shall be given to appointing those persons whose jobpositions are abolished by this act. On and after such date the county shallpaythe compensation and employer's contributions of such employees and amountstherefor may be paid during the budget year even though the same were notincluded in the budget of expenditures for such year. On and after June18, 1979, district court employees shall not perform the function of servingprocess for the district courts. A county may issue no-fund warrants tocover costs imposed upon the county for calendar year 1979 pursuant to thissection and such warrants may be issued without the approval of the statecourt of tax appeals.
