    Chapter 7. Drug Interdiction Fund

Fund established
    Sec. 1. The drug interdiction fund is established.

Administration of fund
    Sec. 2. (a) The department shall administer the fund.
    (b) Expenditures from the fund may be made only in accordancewith the appropriations made by the general assembly.

Purposes
    Sec. 3. The department may use money from the fund to do thefollowing:
        (1) Provide additional persons to conduct investigations intoviolations of drug and controlled substances statutes.
        (2) Purchase laboratory equipment and other equipmentnecessary to assist in the effort to control illegal drug activity.
        (3) Provide technical and investigative assistance to local lawenforcement agencies to combat illegal drug activity.
        (4) Fund other programs designed to reduce illegal drugactivity.

Fund investment
    Sec. 4. The treasurer of state shall invest the money in the fundnot currently needed to meet the obligations of the fund in the samemanner as other public funds may be invested.

No reversion to state general fund
    Sec. 5. Money in the fund at the end of a fiscal year does notrevert to the state general fund.
