Chapter 3. Certified Copies of Discharge Documents

"Honorably discharged veterans"
Sec. 1. As used in this chapter, "honorably discharged veterans"includes persons placed on inactive duty under honorable conditionsbut not discharged from military service.

Copies necessary to secure benefits to military personnel
Sec. 2. The state or a political subdivision shall provide uponrequest, without charge or fee, one (1) certified copy of a documentor record if it is shown that the certified copy is necessary to securebenefits to:
(1) members of the military service;
(2) honorably discharged veterans; or
(3) surviving spouses or dependents of an individual describedin subdivision (1) or (2);
under a federal or state law.

Fees for document copies
Sec. 3. The state or a political subdivision may collect a chargeper copy of not more than the amount specified in IC 36-2-7-10(b) ifa person requests more than one (1) certified copy of the documentor record. The funds received under this section shall be placed in thegeneral fund of the state or county.
