    Chapter 8. Transitional Programs

Duty to provide programs
    
Sec. 1. The department shall provide transitional programs forfelons who are to be released on parole, discharged, or placed onprobation.

Written policies and procedures
    
Sec. 2. The department shall develop written policies andprocedures to implement the programs required by section 1 of thischapter.

Components of programs
    
Sec. 3. (a) The programs established by section 1 of this chaptermay include the following components:
        (1) Substance abuse treatment and education.
        (2) Living skills and family dynamics.
        (3) Educational advancement.
        (4) Community resources identification and job search training.
    (b) The program components may, on an individual basis, includecontinued supervision or participation after the person is released onparole.

Annual report
    
Sec. 4. The department shall, not later than January 1 of eachyear, submit an annual report to the general assembly on theoperation of the transitional programs established under this chapter.The report must be in an electronic format under IC 5-14-6 and mustinclude information concerning the following:
        (1) The number of offenders who participated in the program.
        (2) The types of programs in which the offenders participated.
