    Chapter 22. Township Assistance Budgets and Appropriation ofTownship Assistance Money

Additional appropriations
    Sec. 1. (a) A township trustee may not, acting as administrator oftownship assistance, disburse any money or incur any obligation inthe furnishing of township assistance in excess of the amountappropriated for that purpose.
    (b) Appropriations for township assistance purposes must bemade in the manner provided by law for appropriations for othertownship purposes.
    (c) When preparing the annual budget for a township, thetownship trustee and the township board shall set out in the budgetthe amount of expenditures estimated to be reasonably required forcurrent township assistance in the following calendar year. If theamount provided for township assistance in the annual budget asfinally adopted and approved is insufficient to meet the requirementsfor that purpose, additional appropriations may be made in themanner provided by law for the making of additional appropriationsby townships for other purposes.

Certified copies of record; payment
    Sec. 2. (a) Copies of all township budgets for current townshipassistance shall, as finally adopted and approved, be placed on filein the office of the county auditor. If an additional appropriation forcurrent township assistance is made by a township:
        (1) a certified copy of the action of the township board inmaking the additional appropriation; and
        (2) a certified copy of the order of the department approving theadditional appropriation;
shall be filed in the office of the county auditor.
    (b) A township trustee may not pay any township assistance orderor claim in excess of the amount appropriated for current townshipassistance purposes, except as otherwise provided by law.

Uniform rules and forms
    Sec. 3. The state board of accounts shall adopt uniform forms andnecessary rules under this chapter to make the method of budgetingand appropriating township assistance money uniform in alltownships.
