IC 12-20-9-2
Temporary aid pending return to legal residence
    
Sec. 2. If an individual is:
        (1) a child;
        (2) the parent of a child requiring the parent's care; or
        (3) sick, aged, injured, crippled, or physically or mentallyunable to work or travel;
the township trustee, as administrator of township assistance, of thetownship in which the individual is found shall furnish townshipassistance to the individual until the individual can be returned to theplace of the individual's legal residence if that place can bedetermined.

Return to legal residence
    
Sec. 3. An individual:
        (1) who:
            (A) applies to the township trustee, as administrator oftownship assistance, for assistance or is in need ofassistance; or
            (B) obtains free medical aid, hospitalization, publicinstitutional care, or assistance in any part at public expense;and
        (2) who does not have legal residence in the township;
may be returned by the township trustee, as administrator oftownship assistance, to the individual's place of legal residence if thatplace can be determined.

Payment for services provided
    
Sec. 4. The record of and bill for services provided under thischapter shall be filed and paid in the manner provided for the filingand payment of other kinds of relief provided by the townshiptrustee, as administrator of township assistance. The townshiptrustee, as administrator of township assistance, shall pay bills fromany available fund for providing township assistance.

Temporary commitment in county home
    
Sec. 5. If an individual or a member of an individual's household

who is determined to be eligible for township assistance and entitledto temporary relief is in a township in which the individual orhousehold member does not have legal residence, the townshiptrustee, as administrator of township assistance, may, if the trusteeconsiders advisable, place the individual or household membertemporarily in a county home as provided in IC 12-20-17-4.

Violations; denial of aid
    
Sec. 6. An individual may be denied township assistance for notmore than one hundred eighty (180) days whenever the individual ora member of the individual's household:
        (1) has been:
            (A) sent by a township where the individual does not resideto a location outside the township at the individual's requestor by court order; and
            (B) transported to a location outside the township at publicexpense; and
        (2) knowingly reapplies for assistance in the township fromwhich the individual or member of the individual's householdwas sent.
