Chapter 3. Children's Mental Health

"Bureau" defined
Sec. 1. As used in this chapter, "bureau" refers to the children'smental health bureau.

Sec. 2. The children's mental health bureau is established withinthe division.

Bureau head
Sec. 3. The division director shall appoint a bureau head.

Responsibilities of bureau head
Sec. 4. The bureau head is responsible for the following:
(1) Developing a definition and criteria for emotionaldisturbance and serious emotional disturbance.
(2) Assessing current and projected needs for children andyouth with an emotional disturbance within geographic areas ofIndiana.
(3) Developing an annual plan for children's mental healthservices, including an implementation plan and fiscalrequirements.
(4) Developing the budget and budget requests for the bureau.
(5) Implementing plans required under federal Public Law99-660 (1986).
(6) Developing and coordinating programs and services forprevention and family support.
(7) Providing technical assistance and oversight of children'smental health programs and services within mental healthfacilities that are licensed or certified by the state.
(8) Coordinating with the director of the department of childservices on matters concerning children with mental healthneeds.
(9) Coordinating with other bureaus of the division.
(10) Maintaining sufficient staff to carry out the duties of thebureau.
