Chapter 12. Voluntary and Involuntary Treatment by Division forMinors

Notification or consent of parents or guardians; treatment inabsence of notification
Sec. 1. A minor who voluntarily seeks treatment for alcoholism,alcohol abuse, or drug abuse from the division or a facility approvedby the division may receive treatment without notification or consentof the parents, guardian, or person having control or custody of theminor.

Notification or consent of parents or guardians; discretion ofdivision or facility; immunity from suit
Sec. 2. Notification or consent is at the discretion of the divisionor a facility approved by the division. A criminal action or civil suitmay not be maintained against the division or the division's agentsfor the reasonable exercise of this discretion.

Court placement
Sec. 3. A minor less than eighteen (18) years of age may be placedunder the treatment supervision of the division by the court havingjurisdiction over the minor, according to the procedure establishedfor juveniles in such cases or the procedure established by this articleif the court having juvenile jurisdiction waives jurisdiction.
