    Chapter 16. Guardianships

Request by subject individual or other interested party;establishing guardianship instead of making commitment
    Sec. 1. At the request of the individual who is the subject of aproceeding under this article or another interested party, the courtmay establish a guardianship for the individual or the individual'sproperty instead of making or continuing a regular commitment to afacility under IC 12-26-7 or at any other time.

Application of law governing guardianships
    Sec. 2. A guardianship established under section 1 of this chaptershall be established under the applicable Indiana law governingguardianships.
