Chapter 6. Northwest Indiana Advisory Board
IC 13-13-6-1
Establishment; counties served
Sec. 1. The commissioner shall establish a northwest Indianaadvisory board to serve the following counties:
(1) A county that has a population of more than four hundredthousand (400,000) but less than seven hundred thousand(700,000).
(2) A county that has a population of more than one hundred tenthousand (110,000) but less than one hundred fifteen thousand(115,000).
(3) A county that has a population of more than one hundredforty-five thousand (145,000) but less than one hundredforty-eight thousand (148,000).

Board members
Sec. 2. The advisory board consists of the following members:
(1) A member of:
(A) the senate; and
(B) the house of representatives;
if all or part of the member's district is located in a countydescribed in section 1 of this chapter.
(2) Nine (9) members to be appointed by the commissionerfrom among individuals who reside in the counties described insection 1 of this chapter for two (2) year terms as follows:
(A) One (1) member of the general public.
(B) One (1) member representing environmental interests.
(C) One (1) member representing business and industry.
(D) One (1) member representing labor.
(E) One (1) member representing public health.
(F) One (1) member representing education.
(G) One (1) local elected official from each county describedin section 1 of this chapter.

Per diem and traveling expenses
Sec. 3. (a) Each member of the board who is not a state employeeis not entitled to the minimum salary per diem provided byIC 4-10-11-2.1(b). The member is also not entitled to reimbursementfor traveling expenses as provided under IC 4-13-1-4 and otherexpenses actually incurred in connection with the member's duties,as provided in the state policies and procedures established by theIndiana department of administration and approved by the budgetagency.
(b) Each member of the board who is a state employee is not
entitled to reimbursement for traveling expenses provided underIC 4-13-1-4 and other expenses actually incurred in connection withthe member's duties, as provided in the state policies and proceduresestablished by the Indiana department of administration andapproved by the budget agency.

Vacancies
Sec. 4. If an appointed member of the board is not able to servethe member's full term, the commissioner shall appoint an individualto serve for the remainder of the unexpired term.

Duties
Sec. 5. The board shall:
(1) monitor permit applications;
(2) disseminate information and material to the public;
(3) make recommendations to the department and the boards;and
(4) assist any department regional offices;
that affect or concern a county described in section 1 of this chapter.
