    Chapter 2. Small State Parks

"Small state park" defined
    Sec. 1. As used in this chapter, "small state park" means a statepark having an area of not more than five hundred (500) acres.

Development, maintenance, and management of parks
    Sec. 2. The department may develop, maintain, and manage, onproperty acquired by the department, at least one (1) small state park.

Site determination criteria
    Sec. 3. The department shall establish criteria for determining thesite of a small state park. However, each small state park must meetthe following conditions:
        (1) Be developed for recreational or cultural activities by thepublic.
        (2) Contain or be adjacent to surface water.

Contracts for operation or management
    Sec. 4. The department may enter into contracts for the operationor management of the property, facilities, services, or programs of asmall state park.

Adoption of rules
    Sec. 5. The department may adopt rules under IC 4-22-2 toimplement this chapter.
